Sept. 6 (Bloomberg) -- The cost from flood damage in
Victoria state, which has received as much as 200 millimeters
(7.9 inches) of rain in some parts, is expected to exceed A$10
million, the Australian Financial Review reported, citing the
Insurance Council of Australa.
About 250 properties have been affected so far, with more
floods possibly on the way, the newspaper said, citing Victorian
Premier John Brumby. The state is offering emergency grants
ranging from A$1,067 to A$26,000 to affected households,
