Sept. 22 (Bloomberg) -- The World Bank said it supports
Ukraine's plan to set up a domestic carbon market, the Ukrainian
National Environment Investment Agency said.
The World Bank discussed greenhouse-gas reductions with
Ukrainian officials in Kiev yesterday and expressed support for
the expansion of carbon markets to Russia, Belarus and
Kazakhstan, the Kiev-based government agency said in an e-mailed
statement today.
The sides discussed "possibilities to cooperate in the
green investments scheme," the Ukraine said in the statement.
The World Bank may buy some unspecified emission credits from
Ukraine, the statement said.
