LCH.Clearnet Handled Second Biggest Volume of Carbon Permits

Oct. 20 (Bloomberg) -- LCH.Clearnet Group Ltd. handled
about 5 million metric tons of carbon contracts yesterday, its
second-biggest volume since starting its over-the-counter
clearing service in July last year.
The volume included 4.425 million tons of European Union
allowance forward contracts, 475,000 tons of Certified Emission
Reduction credit forwards and 50,000 tons of EU-allowance spot,
Jason LaBrooy, an LCH energy markets official in London, said by
e-mail and phone. The record was 5.165 million tons on Sept. 16,
he said today.
