Oct. 25 (Bloomberg) -- The European Union's likely ban on
United Nations credits from projects to cut industial gases may
create demand for about 560 million tons of replacement offsets
through 2020, analysts at Bloomberg New Energy Finance said.
Removal of industrial-gas credits would result in a supply
of 1.24 billion tons of Certified Emission Reduction offsets
through 2020, according to a forecast by Aimie Parpia, a London-
based analyst at Bloomberg New Energy Finance, which provides
research and data on the carbon markets. That compares with an
EU limit of 1.8 billion metric tons on imported carbon credits,
she said.
