Oct. 19 (Bloomberg) -- United Nations talks intended to
encourage a forest-protection program are progressing at a
slower pace than expected, according to the head of carbon at
Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
Forest-protection negotiations in Tianjin, China, earlier
this month were "suffering the same issues" as wider talks
that are bogged down in wrangling between developed and
developing nations, BofA's Abyd Karmali said today at a Platts
emissions conference in Brussels.
"I can't see a whole host of private-sector capital going
towards" forest-protection programs that would create emission
credits, he said.
