Nov. 2 (Bloomberg) -- The premium of European Union carbon
permits for 2010 over offsets from the United Nations advanced
to its widest level since July 9 after EU lawmakers said they
may ban credits from some industrial-gas cutting projects.
The spread between EU permits and UN credits for 2010,
traded as a separate contract, widened 18 cents, or 8.1 percent,
to 2.40 euros ($3.37) a metric ton as of 5:42 p.m. on London's
European Climate Exchange.
EU carbon permits for December rose 2 cents to 14.71 euros
a ton on ECX. UN CERs for December, which include credits from
potentially banned industrial-gas projects, dropped 9 cents to
12.34 euros a ton.
