Nov. 17 (Bloomberg) -- Barclays Plc's investment bank
traded the first futures for German natural gas to be handled on
the ICE Futures Europe Exchange.
More than 400,000 megawatt hours of spread and outright
futures contracts traded during the first day, including the
Barclays Capital trade, ICE Futures Europe said today in an e-
mailed statement.
"We have seen an exceptional level of interest in
outrights and spreads on the first day of trading and we are
very pleased that they have already traded," said Jason Pegley,
head of utility markets at ICE Futures Europe. "Our intention
is to develop liquidity in Europe's principal gas hubs and help
established trading links between them."
