Aug. 23 (Bloomberg) -- Estonia will exceed the government's
earlier plans for sales of spare United Nations carbon credits
this year, Eesti Paeevaleht reported, citing Environment
Minister Jaanus Tamkivi.
The east European country will sell about 1.7 billion
krooni ($138 million) of the so-called Assigned Amount Units, or
AAUs, after having already concluded five deals totaling
"almost" 1.5 billion krooni, the newspaper said. The
government said in March it may sell about a billion krooni
worth of spare United Nations carbon credits this year.
Estonia's preliminary 2011 budget plan includes revenue of
500 million krooni from planned emission sales, the newspaper
said.
