UN Issues 1.8 Million New Greenhouse-Gas-Offset Credits

Aug. 11 (Bloomberg) -- The United Nations issued 1.8
million metric tons of emission offsets today, boosting supply.
The UN Framework Convention on Climate Change secretariat
in Bonn has issued 1.9 million tons of new credits so far this
month, compared with 2.5 million tons for all of July, 3.4
million tons in June and 10.5 million tons in May, according to
UN data.
Today's issuance includes 912,702 tons for the nitrous-
oxide-reduction project in Korea by Korea Energy Management
Corp. and a unit of Rhodia SA.
