Oct. 7 (Bloomberg) -- European Union carbon-dioxide
allowances were little changed near their highest price in a
week after a sale today of 4.4 million metric tons by the U.K.
EU permits for December rose 1 cent to 15.58 euros ($21.76)
a ton as of 10:30 a.m. on London's European Climate Exchange.
They climbed as high as 15.61 euros yesterday, their highest
level since Sept. 30.
The U.K., Europe's second-biggest emitter, sold 4.4 million
carbon-dioxide permits for 15.46 euros a metric ton at an
auction today, its 14th since November 2008. The auction
received 6.3 times more bids than allowances, compared with
coverage of 6.8 times in the previous sale in September.
German power for next year declined 5 cents to 49.30 euros
a megawatt-hour, near its lowest price in five months, broker
data show. The contract traded as low as 45.25 euros on March 30
and 49.15 euros on July 26.
