German Hard-Coal Use Rose 35% in First Half; Lignite Steady

Aug. 2 (Bloomberg) -- Germany's consumption of hard coal
increased 35 percent in the first half of this year, from the
same period last year, to 944 Petajoules, Berlin-based
statistics group Arbeitsgemeinschaft Energiebilanzen e.V. said
in an e-mailed statement today.
Lignite use was little changed, the group said.
