Jan. 13 (Bloomberg) -- India will require state power
distribution companies to start buying solar-generated
electricity beginning in 2013.
The Cabinet has approved a revision of India's power-tariff
policy to require that at least 0.25 percent of the electricity
the utilities distribute be generated by solar plants, Ashok
Lavasa, additional secretary at the power ministry, said in an
interview today in the western Indian city of Gandhinagar. That
solar purchase obligation will rise to 3 percent by 2022.
