Nov. 30 (Bloomberg) -- The Polish cabinet cleared the
proposal to sell a portion of emissions rights under the Kyoto
Protocol.
"We want to sign the sales agreement in the nearest
future," Environment Ministry spokeswoman Magda Sikorska said
today by phone. She declined to name the buyer and the size of
transaction.
On Oct. 22, Prime Minister Donald Tusk said Poland and
Japan were discussing a letter of intent and that the Japanese
side had offered an "attractive price" for the Kyoto
units.
The central European country has signed deals to sell
Assigned Amount Units, known as AAUs, worth 80 million euros
($104 million) this year and Environment Minister Andrzej
Kraszewski last month confirmed the full-year target of 150
million euros.
