Dec. 16 (Bloomberg) -- The U.K. proposal to overhaul its
power market may require carbon-dioxide emitters to pay 22
pounds ($34) for every metric ton they emit in 2013, according
to a Redpoint Energy analysis.
Redpoint Energy, a London-based consultant, said in a
report published today on a U.K. government website that CO2
prices would need to rise to 50 pounds a ton by 2020 and 70
pounds a ton by 2030 to encourage investments in nuclear power
and achieve emissions targets for 2030.
