EDF Buys China Carbon Developer Energy Systems International

July 27 (Bloomberg) -- The trading unit of Electricite de
France SA, the world's largest utility, bought Energy Systems
International Ltd., a developer of carbon projects in China to
expand supply, EDF said in an e-mailed statement today.
EDF didn't disclose a price for the transaction.
"This is a significant transaction for EDF Trading as it
will enable us to expand our presence in the carbon market as
well as provide a strong platform for further development in
China", said John Rittenhouse, chief executive officer of EDF
Trading Ltd.
