Oct. 19 (Bloomberg) -- U.K natural gas fell as additional
LNG tankers headed to Britain and the network manager forecast
supplies of the fuel will rise. Power was unchanged.
The Isle of Grain liquefied natural gas terminal east of
London is due to receive a cargo of the fuel aboard the BW Suez
Everett LNG tanker on Oct. 23, according to AISLive data. The
vessel can carry 138,028 cubic meters of LNG. It was diverted to
Britain from the Montoir terminal in France which has been
closed by strikes, Beatrice Betry, a shipping agent for Wilh.
Wilhelmsen ASA, said today by phone.
The Umm Slal, a so-called Q-max tanker, is due to arrive at
the South Hook terminal in Wales on Oct. 26. The Al Nuaman LNG
carrier is also sailing to the U.K. It didn't update its
estimated time of arrival or specify a terminal. It's now
approaching the Suez Canal.
Gas for November fell as much as 1 pence, or 2.1 percent,
to 46.55 pence a therm. It was at 46.74 pence as of 4:45 p.m. in
London, according to broker data compiled by Bloomberg. That's
equal to $7.35 a million British thermal units. A therm is
100,000 Btus.
The Dragon, South Hook and Isle of Grain terminals were
pumping as much as 68 million cubic meters a day into the
network this morning, National Grid Plc data show. That's the
highest rate since Oct. 14. Flows later dropped back to a rate
of 57 million cubic meters a day.

Gas Demand

The U.K.'s pipelines will hold 341 million cubic meters of
gas in the 24 hours through 6 a.m. tomorrow London time,
according to National Grid, 3 million more than at the start of
today. Demand for gas in the period is forecast at 307 million
cubic meters, 27 million more than the seasonal norm.
Gassco AS, operator of Norway's gas pipelines, said exports
from the Kollsnes plant remain reduced due to repairs to a
natural gas liquids unit, Kjell Varlo Larsen, a Gassco
spokesman, said in an e-mail today from Bygnes, Norway. The
plant is exporting fuel at rate of about 120 million cubic
meters a day. Maximum capacity is 143 million.
U.K. baseload power for the next working day was unchanged
at 45.60 pounds a megawatt-hour. Baseload is delivered around
the clock.
Electricity for next month fell 1 percent to 44.19 pounds a
megawatt-hour. Gas was being used to generate about 40 percent
of Britain's electricity today, according to grid data.
